The research presented in "Effective Governance Solutions" suggests that different opportunities should be explored to connect top-down policies that promote nature-based solutions for biodiversity, climate and environmental goals and bottom-up initiatives that stress their value in providing green space, well-being and economic development. Using emerging opportunities, working with intermediary organisations and champions, as well as making the benefits of nature-based solutions for a range of people and organisations visible and valued can help bridge this gap.

At the same time, research shows that there is no “one-size fits all” governance approach, as many approaches have been proven effective in different contexts. A last insight from this research recognises that growing effective governance for nature-based solutions depends on strong roots – core principles that underpin the development and implementation of initiatives.
